Randy Kuker (Rudy), 53 of Fort Dodge, passed away on Memorial Day after a brief yet tough battle with cancer. Randy died peacefully and comfortably at his daughter's home, where he lived during the last few months of his life.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 30th in the chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Johnson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services.
Randy is survived by his mother Patricia Kuker, sister Pam Gerdes (Don), brother Mike Kuker, daughters Bobbi and Laci Kuker, and his young grandchildren Kaitlyn and Braden Fredericksen, all of Fort Dodge. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and cousins. Randy was preceded in death by his father Leroy Kuker.
Randy was born on June 14, 1954 in Fort Dodge. He died young, yet lived a full and adventurous life. Randy graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1972, and shortly after he traveled across the country with friends, eventually visiting all states except for two. Music was a huge part of Randy's life. During and after his travels he attended numerous rock festivals and concerts. He worked at Eddies Greenhouse for almost 17 years; Randy had a green thumb, loved plants, and grew an impressive garden every year. Randy will be remembered for his career as a housepainter, which began at 17 years old and continued until he was too sick to paint.
Randy loved many things in his life; his first love was his two daughters whom he raised alone from the young ages of six and two. He was an unforgettable father and an ever better grandfather. His grandchildren meant the world to him and he was a part of their lives nearly every day. He had a love for all sports; he played softball for over 30 years, bowled, played cards, and golfed. He also loved watching sports and he was a diehard Hawkeye fan. Randy enjoyed grilling; he grilled a turkey every Thanksgiving.
Randy passed away in the care of his loving daughters. He will be dearly missed by many.
