Mary Lorene Gangstad was born on June 25, 1908, at Exeter, Nebraska to Peter Franzen and Anna Pauline Hansen Franzen. She passed away MOnday, March 11, 1991, at the Fillmore County hospital in Geneva at the age of 82 years, eight months and 16 days. She was one of ten children in the family.

Mary attended school in Exeter and graduated from Exeter High School. She was united in marriage to James Delaney on September 23, 1926, and to this union two children were born: Bonita Jean and Robert James. James passed away on December 7, 1935. On August 7, 1939, Mary married Oscar (Pete) Gangstad and to this union two children were born; Janice Gayle and Jerry Dale. Pete passed away on May 6, 1972.

Mary spent her entire life in the Fillmore County area and worked at numerous jobs. She retired at the age of 76. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Fairmont Community church and the Rebekah's. She will be missed by her children and her many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandchild and nine brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her children: Bonita Cardenas of Milwalkee, Wi., Robert Delaney of Fairmont, Janice Frohlich of Coon Rapids, Ia., and Jerry Gangstad of Fairmont; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren three great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted from the Fairmont Community church at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 14, 1991, with Rev. Norman Kauble officiating. Nancy Jo Galusha accompanied Gregory Rehm who sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden."

Pallbearers were Melvin Ackerman, Jerry Galusha, Kenneth G. Moore, Louis Moul, Francis D. Rose and Richard Smith.
